Much like a filling, inlays and onlays are used to help repair any teeth that may have been damaged due to injury or decay.

What is the difference between an inlay and an onlay?

Inlays are used to help repair the interior of a tooth, while onlays are used to help repair damage done to the cusp of the tooth.

What is the difference between an inlay and a filling?

Inlays perform a very similar function to a filling but are used to repair teeth with a large surface area. These are usually those teeth found at the back of the mouth that are used for chewing. Inlays are made to fit the cavity in the tooth and then bonded into place for best results.

What does an onlay do?

Onlays are used when the raised part of the tooth has become damaged or decayed. This part of the tooth is also known as the cusp.

What are inlays and onlays made of?

Inlays and onlays are usually made of composite resin, porcelain, or precious metal. We also provide CEREC custom-made inlays, along with veneers and crowns. These are colour-matched to your teeth and made from high-quality ceramic material. Better yet, they’re made while you wait in the chair, so there’s no need to come in for multiple appointments.
